The Invisible Fence

The Invisible Fence is a great way to keep your dog within the perimeters of your yard so you do not have to fear your dog will run away from home.  It is also a good alternative to an actual fence if your homeowners association will not allow a fence.  But keep in mind, if you are looking at the Invisible Fences for a way out of exercising your dog, this will not work!

Your dog sees your whole home, including the yard, as a kennel.  Your dog will eventually sniff every inch of the yard and become bored.  When boredom strikes your dog will find something else to do to entertain itself.  A few behaviors your dog may turn to could be barking, digging up anything and everything, chewing, and even restlessness which could turn into aggression from too much pent up energy.  Letting your dog out in the yard for a good run without you may work at first because the yard is somewhat new to them.  Your dog is not going to exercise themselves, so go outside and play fetch with your dog or even better take your dog for a walk!

Think about it before you invest in an invisible fence.
